Satellite fires are thermal anomalies, not strikes. In autumn most daytime detections are agricultural burning. The layer is opt-in precisely because it is not a strike map.

We infer the event type ourselves. GeoConfirmed marks every entry with an icon but publishes no icon reference. We derived the category by reading the descriptions behind each icon code. This is our inference, not the source's classification — if a category looks wrong, open the marker and check its original source.
